Coverage

What you can ask about, how far back it goes, and where it came from. This page reads the running engine, so it cannot describe a catalogue that is not there.

Pass the symbol as asset. You cannot ask about anything before the start date, and the end is the latest moment you can search.

We carry the data for these and they are not searchable yet. A daily series ends at its last published value, not at today.

11 more. Call GET /v1/assets for the whole list without a key. An asset becomes searchable when bases carries model; until then it carries shape alone and this page keeps it here.

Scales

A scale sets how far a returned path reaches around a moment. It does not change which moments you get: ask the same question at any scale and the matches come back the same.

5m15m30m1h2h4h1d

Not every asset answers at every scale. A series published once a business day has no twelve hours of five-minute bars to draw, so it carries the one scale it can. Read each asset's own list from spans in /v1/assets.

How many moments

The model holds a fixed number of moments for each instant. Ask /v1/search for more and you get that many, billed as that many.

  • BTC: 16 moments

basis=shape compares price paths instead and has no such cap. It works for every asset we carry, and the reply names which one answered in attestation.basis.

Conditions

Write a condition in plain words and send it to /v1/when. These are the shapes it reads. The response repeats back how it parsed yours, so check that before you trust the moments.

  • crashed
  • rallied
  • fell 10% in a day
  • rose 10% in a day
  • fell 5% in an hour
  • was 20% below its 7-day high
  • was this volatile
  • was quiet

Events

Pass a slug to /v1/after/{topic} for every event of that kind, each with its own before and after.

Every event carries the instant it became public knowledge, from its source. One known only by its date counts from the end of that day, and a revised figure keeps the time and the value of the first print.

28 topics, 1,461 events in all. Releases come from the agency that issues them, FOMC statements from the Federal Reserve, and the crypto calendar from contract specifications. News comes from press releases by the Federal Reserve, the SEC, the CFTC, the White House and the Justice Department. We stamp each one with the time we first saw it.

What is not here

You cannot search equities, gold, silver, the volatility index or credit spreads. The reason is licensing, not difficulty. Their owners license an exchange index and a volatility index, and a vendor's terms reach derived values as well as delivered ones. A percent path is a derived value. We hold them back until we hold a licence rather than serve them on a reading nobody has confirmed.

We apply the same test to everything above: if a source's terms do not permit redistribution, we do not serve it, whatever sits on disk. If you need something we do not carry, write to us. It is usually a licence away rather than a rebuild.
